Conveyed media
Typical media include ore fines, coke fines, sinter, slag and metallurgical dust, as well as slag fines, process dust and abrasive slurries. These are hard, angular solids that erode the inner wall over time, and some streams also carry corrosive constituents that must be stated separately.
Where wear concentrates
Wear is generally highest at changes of direction — elbows, bends and tees — and along high-velocity straight runs. Because sinter, coke fines and slag are hard and angular, the impact angle at the fitting governs how quickly the lining is consumed, and the pattern depends on particle size, velocity and solids concentration.

Bimetal pipes for severe abrasion with moderate impact; SHS ceramic composite pipes for high abrasion at low impact; weld overlay pipes where the duty calls for an alloy matched to the wear mode; induction-hardened pipes for high abrasion with controlled impact; 16Mn steel pipes for general slurry and bulk transfer.
